I know there’s this narrative emerging that AI is slowing down, but I sure as hell haven’t experienced it. I am busier than I ever have been. But let me explain why that matters to you.
Wait, I almost forgot! Hey there, I’m Zach Abramowitz and I’m Legally Disrupted. (There are two new podcast links at the end of this email, so make sure to read till the end.)
My consulting company, Killer Whale Strategies, has a very specific niche: we help companies who want to capitalize on AI’s disruptive impact on the legal industry. Because our expertise is so specific, we are kind of our own data point: what we refer to internally as the KWS-busyness index meant to measure adoption of AI in Legal. How busy and in demand we are is one way of measuring the industry’s appetite for AI. Well, we are just now emerging from what was unquestionably the busiest two quarters of my professional career. From April 15 to June 10, I took 13 flights (6 international, 6 domestic) to 11 cities, attended five conferences, delivered four keynotes, and recorded three live podcasts, all while managing numerous client meetings. I initially intended to write this newsletter a few weeks back, but the second my flight from LAX touched down in Tel Aviv, I was back at the office with client work.
Last month at Legal Innovators California, I noted that up until November 30, 2022, most of our engagements came from outbound sales, and I was often in the position of convincing potential clients that they needed our services. I also needed to help them persuade others internally to find budgets for our services. As ChatGPT and LLMs have taken off, that has changed dramatically. Today, all of our engagements are inbound, and I’m often turning down opportunities.
Feels to us like no one needs convincing anymore.
And, thanks to the new capabilities of these tools, we are able to handle the workload with ease.
I’ll have a lot more to say about my takeaways from my Q2 world tour in the coming weeks leading up to ILTACON in Nashville (August 11-15), so make sure to subscribe if you haven’t already, and share with the right people if you already have.
But, for now, let me leave you with links to two recent podcasts, both of which were recorded on stage in front of live audiences during the aforementioned Legally Disrupted World Tour:
