Is ChatGPT Going to Change Everything?
Plus some announcements including my first #legaltechjingle
The short answer is yes.
How big a deal is ChatGPT? Consider this: I don’t typically send alerts to KWS clients because no single piece of #legaltech news creates an emergency. But I am currently finalizing alerts to all of our clients on why we think ChatGPT isn’t just a blip on the radar, but a potential tipping point in the development of AI. Perhaps more importantly, ChatGPT even inspired me to post my first #legaltechjingle to LinkedIn. Fans of both AI and The Little Mermaid, this one is for you! https://www.linkedin.com/feed/update/urn:li:activity:7006634719199006720/ Let me know what you think. This is my first #legaltechjingle but I’ve got a couple more in the queue. If you have any other ideas for jingles, send them to me and I may play/sing them and tag you for credit!
Now back to ChatGPT. I have a little bit of a devil’s-advocate-complex and sometimes I like to play the role of the cynic. So, all this week, I’ve been chiding others on my team for being a bit “breathless” about OpenAI. But omg is the technology amazing. Check out this apology the AI wrote for me to my partner, Cousin Avshie:
Others I really trust about GPT are telling me that this is a harbinger of an even bigger tidal wave coming soon. An email from one of my sources this week reads:
chatGPT is the tremors in the water glass in Jurassic Park. I am more about the T-Rex. :)
**T-Rex Roar Sound** amirite?
I’m going to be getting into more details about ChatGPT in my final webinar of 2022 this Wednesday at 1pm EST/10am PST. I will use the session to review some of the main stories this past year as well as making some predictions about next year. Not only is ChatGPT going to feature prominently in the predictions section, I may just have ChatGPT write the predictions. You can sign up for that webinar here https://www.axiomlaw.com/2022-review-webinar
Which brings me to my second announcement: throughout 2023, for the third straight year in a row, I will be recording The Higher Bar webinar series every other Wednesday, sponsored by Axiom, the number one global provider of flexible legal talent. Over the past two years I’ve had an opportunity to interview a variety of thought leaders across the legal ecosystem. Thanks to this partnership with Axiom, I’ve published conversations with general counsels & heads of legal ops at Fortune 500 companies, academics, investors, entrepreneurs, consultants, journalists and social media influencers.
I am excited the series is coming back for a third year, because as a sponsor, Axiom has encouraged me to discuss a variety of topics that I know are on the minds of in-house lawyers and legal department leaders. Earlier this year, as an example, we recorded a webinar on how virtual reality and the metaverse is going to challenge the current underpinnings of our legal system (a LOT, btw). To their credit: they never want the webinars to be “Why Engage Axiom” (even though you absolutely should engage Axiom!). They make it easy for me to maintain my creative and journalistic integrity. Thank you to producers Christine Brown and Carolyn Buonomo for their hard work this past year. We will soon be releasing the 2023 Higher Bar webinar schedule, but generally speaking, we look to record every other Wednesday at 1pm Eastern/10am Pacific. If you miss an episode live, you can always go back and watch it on demand although you won’t be able to ask the panelists questions.
I’ve got some more newsletters dropping soon. I’ll be going over which #legaltech conferences to attend in 2023, updates from some of the Killer Whale Strategies portfolio of #startups, some deep words of wisdom from clients and — most importantly — I will be giving everyone on this newsletter first look at our 2022 holiday video. If you’re not subscribed already, consider signing up.
If you’re subscribed, consider sharing with other startup and legal disruption enthusiasts.
Definitely excited about this technology and its tremendous potential. Like you, I tend to take a cynical view of many things, but in this case, I think your enthusiasm is justified!
