Think of Me When You're Having the Best Productivity of Your Life!
What Grandpa Simpson Can Teach us About AI
Happy Monday (and welcome to the 12 newcomers)! No better way to start off the week than with a little legal disruption, so let’s do this!
There are many good Grandpa Simpson quotes, but the one below is my all time favorite. I was reminded of it over the weekend as I was thinking about (you guessed it) ChatGPT.
Grandpa Simpson cajoles Homer into accepting a mysterious homemade tonic which he promises will drastically improve Homer’s performance in the bedroom. As Homer leaves the nursing home, his father tosses him the bottle and yells out the window, “Think of me when you’re having the best sex of your life!”
Just what every son wants to hear from their dad.
Perhaps you’ve noticed I’ve been shouting out the windows about generative AI, especially ChatGPT. It’s become the obsession of both my twitter feed and this newsletter. I’m talking about it on podcasts and webinars.
Good. I want you to notice.
I am going to be as transparent as I possibly can: I want you to associate me in your mind with ChatGPT. I want to create this mental link, because I think this new generation of AI is going to be a very big deal and I want you to remember where you heard it first. It’s already the highest impact tool I’ve come across since Google. So, like Grandpa Simpson, when you think of ChatGPT and legal, I WANT you to think of me. When someone in your office or your family or wherever else (because, let’s face it, everyone’s talking about it) mentions ChatGPT, I want your response to be “You know who won’t shut up about ChatGPT and its potential to disrupt the legal industry? Zach Abramowitz."
I’m taking some risk here for sure — I could be wrong, the status quo could continue (or ChatGPT could set us back) and I will end up looking like an overreacting noob.1 But I’m sure as hell not fence-sitting. I’m encouraging everyone in our industry to just start experimenting with ChatGPT and seeing what it can do for them right now. Everyone who has takes me up on this comes back to me within days and says something to the effect of, “This is a gamechanger” or "I'm never going back to working without it again." The mission statement of my company Killer Whale Strategies is "Capitalize on legal disruption" and that's what I'm doing here: building goodwill by being the one that gets you to notice this technology and start using it. So there, that's my plan. I hope it's working.
Soon, I’m going to start sharing some of the use-cases and prompts that I’m writing to get my work done and more, but I encourage to try out the platform yourself. And think of me when you're having the best productivity of your life!
I’m Zach Abramowitz, and you’ve been legally disrupted.
I haven’t always taken this risk in the past. In fact, I’ve gotten plenty of flack for “hating” on CLM (I don’t think I hate enough FWIW).
I'm here for it, Zach! It is an exciting development in the AI space and, more specifically, the generative AI space. I look forward to seeing the use cases that you share.
